There are so many stories in and around Amsterdam Castle Muiderslot. The less obvious perspectives are often the most beautiful, toughest, the most moving or the most shocking. In the summer of 2020 we offer Power Talks for small groups (max. 4 persons). Together with a guide we will discuss a hidden history that we would also like to share and show more. You can choose from different Power Talks:
- The women of the Muiderslot: Who were the women who played an important – and often invisible – role at the castle?
- Gender in the Muiderslot: Loving who you want. That is and was not always easy. In this power talk you will hear about love, lust and LGBTQI from the Middle Ages to the 19th century.
- Touching is required! Especially for the blind and visually impaired: Smell, feel and taste the castle (guide dogs are allowed).
- The plague on the castle: The Muiderslot has existed for over 700 years and has seen many infectious diseases. A well-known one is the plague, also called “the black death”. Just like now with corona, people were afraid of this unknown disease. Many tens of millions of people died in the Middle Ages. In this power talk you will hear more about living and being sick in the Middle Ages.
Power Talks are on request, they last 30 minutes and cost 50 euros for up to 4 people (excluding museum entrance). As a participant, you naturally keep a distance of 1.5 meters from each other and from the tour guide. Reservations can be made no later than 2 weeks before your arrival via firstname.lastname@example.org. As soon as you know whether your power talk is available, you can also book your entrance tickets. You pay for the Power Talk upon arrival.
Do you have a question about another underexposed theme in the history of the Muiderslot? We are very curious! Please contact email@example.com and we will see if we can also pay attention to this.
