Dive into a world of nature, creativity and adventure! For young and old alike, there is a varied programme with spring at its heart: discover flowers and insects in and around the Muiderslot, go on a garden safari or help build an impressive LEGO castle. Let your imagination run free during creative activities, such as making your own little creepy crawly from recycled materials or designing a bird friend inspired by the falcons of Floris V. Head out into the gardens with your self made garden booklet or explore everything that grows, blooms and buzzes. <\/p>\n

Whether you come to get creative, explore or build together, there is something new to experience every day during the May holiday at the Muiderslot. All activities are free with a valid admission ticket! <\/p>\n <\/div>\n

  1. Junk Caterpillars and Garbage Flies <\/u><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Step into the world of creepy crawlies around the Muiderslot. In the castle gardens, insects buzz among the flowers and shrubs, while high up in the towers, spiders creep along the old wooden beams. Everywhere, from garden to tower, it is teeming with tiny creatures hiding in and around the castle. <\/p>\n

    During this drop in activity, you can create your own fantasy insect. Using bottle caps, cardboard, paper and other recycled materials, you will craft a wriggling caterpillar, a fly ready to buzz away or a bold beetle with impressive wings. <\/p>\n

      1. <\/u> Floris V\u2019s Falcon <\/u><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Have you spotted the kestrel at the Muiderslot yet? Birds of prey still circle the skies around the castle. In the Middle Ages, the month of May marked the start of the falconry season, a favourite pastime of Floris V. Together with his friends and their falcons, he would head out into nature in search of adventure. <\/p>\n

        Create your own fantasy bird friend. Choose from a variety of materials and give your falcon or imaginary bird a look of your own. <\/p>\n

          <\/u>3. Explore the Gardens<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

          See the gardens of the Muiderslot through new eyes. What is growing and blooming? Which flowers attract bees and butterflies? And what do you hear when you pause and listen? Set out on a garden safari or create your own garden booklet. <\/p>\n

          Design your own garden journal <\/em><\/strong>Bring your pencils and set off to explore the castle gardens and surrounding area. Draw what you see, write down what catches your eye and create your own green journal. <\/p>\n

            Garden Safari.<\/strong> <\/em>Are you curious about everything that grows and blooms in the castle gardens? Would you like to know which birds live in and around the Muiderslot, and do you dare to taste what the gardens have to offer? Join the garden safari and discover, smell and taste! <\/p>\n

              4. Lego Castle<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

              The Muiderslot has stood for over seven hundred years. During that time, the castle has been rebuilt, restored and expanded many times, from a military fortress to a luxurious residence and ultimately the museum it is today. As you explore, you will discover traces of 700 years of building everywhere. <\/p>\n

              And\u2026 the master builder could use a hand! He once started building the Muiderslot, but ran out of time. Who will help him finish it? And while you are at it, why not design the castle gardens too? <\/p>\n
