The Muiderslot strives to reach a wide and diverse audience. Our programs are accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds. Inclusion is central, both in our physical spaces and in our activities. By using digital means such as audio tours and interactive elements, we make the heritage of the Muiderslot accessible to everyone. <\/p>\n

The Muiderslot as a place of encounter<\/h3>\n

The Muiderslot sees it as its social role to be a meeting place for everyone, including people for whom a museum visit is not self-evident. Together with social partners, such as Versa Welzijn, Gooise Meren Toegankelijk, LFB and the Maatjesproject, we are working to create an inclusive environment. We are expanding successful projects and strengthening our social significance, with the aim of reaching more social groups and making the Muiderslot a place for everyone. <\/p>\n

We actively combat loneliness and promote encounters between young and old. Together with the Maatjesproject Gooi- en Vechtstreek, we organize monthly activities such as cooking together or drawing in the castle garden, thus stimulating exchange and togetherness. The annual Ratatouille Dinner brings people from the region together with status holders and newcomers. Together we celebrate diversity with dishes from all over the world. We also organize the Freedom Dinner around May 5, where we reflect together on the value of freedom. <\/p>\n <\/div>\n

Green Summer School<\/h3>\n

Together with Versa Welzijn, we organize the annual Green Summer School for children from families with little living expenses. During the summer vacations they discover sustainability, healthy eating and green heritage in a playful way. <\/p>\n <\/div>\n

Outside the castle walls <\/h3>\n
\n

The Muiderslot is also active outside the castle walls because, as a cultural institution, we are part of the world around us. For example, with our program “Muiderslot outside the Walls,” we provide activities in regional nursing homes and day care centers for the elderly and people who are physically unable to come to the castle. <\/p>\n <\/div>\n

Exploring language and culture <\/h3>\n
\n

With Bibliotheek Gooi+, we organize language excursions and language cafes for non-native speakers, where they practice their Dutch and learn more about Dutch culture. The Nieuwkomerstour, in cooperation with the municipality, helps newcomers discover both the Netherlands and their own culture. <\/p>\n <\/div>\n

Physical Accessibility & Sense the Castle <\/h3>\n
\n

The Muiderslot, once built as an inaccessible castle, is not easily accessible for people with physical disabilities. Therefore, we have created a special route through the castle gardens for wheelchair and walker users. We are exploring with The Handicapped Child Foundation how to make the castle workshop and knights’ hall accessible. In the program Sense the Castle, we specifically focus on the use of all senses, for people with visual impairments. <\/p>\n <\/div>\n
