This fall break, be sure to stop by the Castle Workshop during your visit to Muiderslot for some creative activities. You can get involved in a variety of activities every day between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Snapshot of a still life

A pink salmon, shiny pewter plates, and perfectly arranged pears: in the 17th century, painters certainly knew how to create a still life. Now it’s your turn! In our photo booth, you can create your own still life. Use your own phone to take photos and share your masterpiece online at @muiderslot. Get inspired by the art of the old masters and add your own modern twist.

Draw your masterpiece

The Muiderslot is filled with portraits, landscapes, and other special paintings. But one frame is still completely empty… What would you put in it? Color your own masterpiece. Draw a cool self-portrait, a dreamy landscape, a funny monster, or even your family. When you’re done, your artwork is ready for a place of honor. Take it home and give it a nice spot on the wall, just like a real masterpiece.

Guided Workshop: Cut and Paste Your Self-Portrait

What would your portrait look like if it were hung in a castle? Under the guidance of a museum docent, you’ll get to work with colored paper during this workshop. Cut, tear, and glue together a self-portrait in collage form that reflects who you are! Will you opt for a realistic portrait, or will you let your imagination run wild with bold colors, unique hairstyles, or surprising accessories?
