Performance: The Tales of King Monkey

All animals know exactly what they’re supposed to be. The elephant is a wonderful elephant. Anteaters love nothing more than eating ants.
Even the raccoon, the crow, and the squirrel know exactly what their place is in the animal kingdom. Only the monkey wants to be something he isn’t: a human who walks on two legs and wears clothes. What happens to the foolish monkey whose dreams are bigger than himself?

Sahand Sahebdivani
The performance is presented by Sahand Sahebdivani. Sahand Sahebdivani (1980) is co-director of the Amsterdam Storytelling Festival and one of the Netherlands’ best-known storytellers. In 2004, he founded Mezrab, which has since grown into one of the most important storytelling cafés in the world. Sahand arrived in the Netherlands at the age of three as a refugee from the Iran-Iraq War. His experiences and those of his family form the basis for most of his work.
