War and freedom
We still commemorate World War II every year. The war also had a great influence on the Muiderslot. For example, the Knights' Hall of the castle was temporarily a classroom and people in hiding were hidden in one of the towers. Stories about war and freedom from the past spark conversation about current events: even today, freedom is still fragile!

A lesson in historical awareness, as well as critical thinking, empathy and citizenship.
In this interactive tour, students, accompanied by a museum docent, dive into the history of the Muiderslot during the war. Using historical images and personal stories, they discover how people had to choose, act or remain silent. What would you do if you could help someone, but put yourself in danger in doing so?
In addition to an interactive tour, the students are presented with an assignment full of dilemmas in which they engage in conversation with each other.
The program ties in with the subjects of history, social studies and citizenship.
