Step into the time machine of your taste buds and taste the Muiderslot. Be inspired by the ingredients from our historic garden and plum orchard. Our castle chef will share some simple historical recipes to make your own at home.

The castle used to be far away from vegetable markets. And neither did a grocery store, supermarket or delivery service exist yet. So it was not only convenient, but also necessary to grow your own vegetables and herbs, and occasionally fetch some fish or a duck from the moat. Even today the garden of Muiderslot is full of (forgotten) vegetables, herbs, plants, fruits and (edible) flowers. With the produce from these gardens the most delicious meals have been prepared for centuries in the castle’s kitchen
