Muiderslot ‘Outside the Walls’
Discover the stories of the Muiderslot
Muiderslot Castle believes it is important that everyone can experience the stories of the castle, even if visiting is not an obvious choice. That’s why we organize the lectures ‘Muiderslot outside the walls’. Suitable for example for community centers, libraries and care institutions. With different themes we bring the history and atmosphere of the Muiderslot to you.
Lecture Then & Now (highlights of the Muiderslot)
What was life like at the Muiderslot for the past 700 years? What stories have traditionally accompanied the sturdy castle and its beautiful gardens? And what happens in and around the castle today? The lecture ‘then and now’ will include old postcards, proverbs and photos of our masterpieces. There is plenty of room for interaction and sharing knowledge about and memories of the Muiderslot. We find this ‘oral history’ and the different perspectives valuable and will take them back to the castle.
Lecture Strong Women
A castle, shining armor and a dangerous sword are often automatically associated with men. But women also played an important role in the castle. How does the woman of the Middle Ages resemble the woman of today? Using themes of marriage, status, role models and social networks, we will discuss tough women in this lecture.
Lecture Wet Feet: Muiderslot & the water
The Muiderslot is inextricably linked to the surrounding water: the moat, the Vecht and the Zuiderzee. During this lecture we talk about the relationship between the castle and the water. For example, how was the water used in defense? Fortunately, in this lecture we will keep our feet dry!
