Free Strong Women’s Tour

Castles, shining armor and dangerous swords are often associated with men. But women also played an indispensable role in castle life. During special tours around International Women's Day, we put their stories at the center.
Siebren Houwer, kasteelkok van het Muiderslot, leidt een groep mensen rond tijdens een tasting.

A stimulating tour of how the lives of women in the Middle Ages compare to those of women today.

In this interactive tour, we will explore how the lives of women in the Middle Ages compare to the lives of women today. What has changed and what hasn’t? Using themes such as marriage, status, motherhood, power, wealth, beauty and social networks, we invite you to look differently at the past and the present.

The tour stimulates you to reflect on images and role models and to form your own idea of a ‘strong woman’. A surprising and current look at the history of the Muiderslot.

Afterwards (or beforehand) you are of course welcome to visit the castle and gardens at your own pace!
