Ascension weekend

From Thursday 14 May, we’re kicking off a festive Ascension Day weekend packed with outdoor fun and creative activities for the whole family. A perfect opportunity to get out and about together and enjoy the spring.

Join the wish kite activity and let your wish take flight over the picnic meadow. Get creative in the castle atelier and make your own kite, or grab a pencil and be inspired by nature. Even inside the Muiderslot, spring is in full swing, with fresh styling and floral accents in the 17th century rooms.

Extra fun: all activities are free with a valid admission ticket!

Let your wish take flight
Specially for Ascension Day, you can join the wish kite activity on the picnic meadow at the Muiderslot. Write or draw your wish and add it to the others. Together, they create a cheerful field full of dreams and ideas.

Get creative in the castle atelier
In the castle atelier, children can get hands on together with their families. For example, make your own small kite and then take it outside to try it out on the grounds of the Muiderslot. Can you get it to fly above the grass around the castle?

Drop in workshop: Build your Dream Castle

Step into a world of imagination and create your own dream castle! During this drop in workshop, artist Cheyenne Pattiwaël guides visitors of all ages in creating a personal artwork.

Let yourself be inspired by the castle, the gardens and the water. Do you see the Muiderslot as a place full of history, or as the setting of a fantasy story? Using a variety of materials, you will get to work and bring your own vision of this special place to life.

Drop in, join the activity and take your unique keepsake home.

Drawing in the gardens
There is plenty of inspiration to be found in the gardens too. Grab a pencil and start sketching among the flowers, trees and views of the Muiderslot. You might spot a bird, a butterfly or a special detail of the castle that you would like to capture.

Spring in the castle
You can feel spring indoors too. In the 17th century rooms of the Muiderslot, the new season has arrived. With fresh styling, flowers and light colours, a cheerful spring atmosphere fills the space. Wander through the rooms, climb the towers and discover how people lived, worked and celebrated here for centuries.
