For secondary education

The Muiderslot is an inspiring learning environment where history, culture and current themes come together.

Two children participate in the program War and Freedom. They stand on the bridge of the Muiderslot and hold clipboards to make assignments.

Programs are tailored to level and learning goals

At the Muiderslot, students discover how the past affects the present. They are challenged to think about big questions: about power and freedom, inequality and justice, identity and expression, and the relationship between man, nature and water.

The programs are interactive and connect to different subjects, such as history, CKV, civics and citizenship. Students look, listen, investigate and reflect – not only with their heads, but also with their feelings.

Educational programs for secondary schools are tailored to level and learning goals. Together we discuss which themes and forms of work best fit the classroom and curriculum.

Why the Muiderslot?

The blossoms of the plum trees in the plum orchard. The sky is blue. The castle is in the background.

The Plum Orchard

Stroll past the plum trees and experience the atmosphere that inspired castle resident P.C. Hooft to write stories.
Een meisje bezoekt de riddelzaal van het Muiderslot, met schilderijen aan de muur, kroonluchters en marmeren vloer.

The Knights’ Hall

The beating heart of the castle. A place where feasting, sleeping, justice and writing took place. The oldest stage in the Netherlands. Be inspired by the story of the Muider Circle.
The Muiderslot. Surrounded by canals, gardens and vast wetlands.

The moat

Wet and cold. The moat kept enemies at bay and made it difficult to get close to the walls. Thus, the Muiderslot was well protected.
