The Muiderslot is an inspiring learning environment where history, culture and current themes come together.

Programs are tailored to level and learning goals

At Muiderslot, students discover how the past continues to shape the present. They are challenged to reflect on big questions: about power and freedom, inequality and justice, identity and expression, and the relationship between people, nature, and water.

The programs are interactive and tie in with various subjects, such as history, Dutch, and civics. Students watch, listen, explore, and reflect—not only with their minds, but also with their hearts.

The educational programs are tailored to the students’ level and learning objectives. Together, we discuss which themes and teaching methods best suit the class and the curriculum.

The Plum Orchard

The Knights’ Hall

The beating heart of the castle. A place where feasting, sleeping, justice and writing took place. The oldest stage in the Netherlands. Be inspired by the story of the Muider Circle.

The moat

Wet and cold. The moat kept enemies at bay and made it difficult to get close to the walls. Thus, the Muiderslot was well protected.

Do I need additional chaperones if I come with my class?

Yes, each program indicates how many facilitators are needed.

Is there room to have lunch with students?

Tijdens het programma kan er niet gegeten of gedronken worden. Na afloop kan de klas buiten op het terrein eigen meegebracht eten/drinken nuttigen. Helaas hebben we hiervoor geen binnenruimte.

What is the Muiderslot’s vision for education?

Our interactive educational programs connect with students’ experiences. They combine knowledge with experience and invite them to make connections between then, now and later. Students explore with all their senses and are given room to ask questions and discover for themselves.
