Braid, knot and connect in the castle.

Under Alfhild’s guidance, you will work with other participants during this workshop to create one large, collective work of art. Wool is a living and sensory material that invites you to feel, connect and experiment. By braiding, knotting, wrapping and joining together, an organic whole is created step by step.

You don’t have to have experience with textiles or art: curiosity and a desire to create together are enough. Alfhild guides the process with attention and room for intuition. The joint work grows naturally, hand in hand, thread by thread.

The workshop is not only a creative process, but also a moment of slowing down, connecting and meeting: totally in the spirit of the exhibition Soft!

Extra special:
The completed artwork will be displayed in the castle. So you can come back later to relive the work – to which you and others contributed – within the exhibition.

Please note that there are two time slots:

  • 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.
You join during one time slot and collaborate on the collaborative artwork for two hours. All contributions will eventually be brought together by Alfhild into one piece.
  • Language of instruction is English (Alfhild speaks English, understands Dutch)

About the exhibition Soft!

The workshop’s content ties in with the exhibition Soft! – Textile Art in the Muiderslot (January 16 to March 22, 2026). In this exhibition, leading contemporary textile artists show how powerful, innovative and contemporary textile art is today. Where for centuries tapestries and textiles gave the castle warmth and status, this heritage returns with Soft! returns in a contemporary, surprising form. The workshop offers visitors the chance not only to look, but also to become part of this living textile story themselves.
