Highlights from recent years
The work of musicians, performers and visual artists is regularly presented in and around the castle through installations, performances and presentations.
A New Perspective on the Past
Many projects connect the past with a contemporary perspective. In the photo presentation Crying Boys (2021), Noah Valentijn explored how ideas about masculinity and emotion are changing, linking them to the crying knights of the Middle Ages. In Oesters en Citroenen (2022), Louise te Poele took a new look at the still lifes in the castle.
Craft and the Senses
Other makers work from craft or sensory experience. In Van Knoop tot Knoop (2023), Mina Abouzahra explored the craft of weaving, while food photographer and chef Jessica Duque brought the castle’s culinary history to life in Kleuren en smaken onthuld (2023).
Contemporary Stories
Contemporary themes also play an important role. In Flower Power (2022), Dennis A-Tjak explored the story of green migration, while in Design by Nature (2024) Marit van Eekelenburg highlighted insects and biodiversity. Climate change was the central theme in Here Comes the Flood (2023) and the KlimaatExpo (2024), created in collaboration with ArtWorlds.
