Get out and about during the spring break! From February 19 through March 6, 2022, the Rijksmuseum Muiderslot celebrates the approaching spring with a creative and varied program. Of course there is also plenty to see and do in the castle.
Ever since the Middle Ages, the onset of spring has been celebrated with exuberant parties. Carnival is one of those celebrations. Come and make your own festive mask during the spring vacations. This free workshop is every day from 12:00 to 15:00 in the Atelier in the Attic. Feel free to walk in, you only need to reserve a ticket to the castle. In case of crowds, (grand) parents should wait outside the workshop area.
In the castle gardens the flowers are already starting to bloom. Have you seen the first snowdrops and crocuses? Get to work on your own spring flowers, can you make a beautiful crocus? Or do you prefer a fantasy flower?
Children between 5 and 11 years old are welcome in the castle gardens every day at 1 pm. Put on old clothes and boots and join the discovery tour of the old Muiderslot fortress. There you will find special things, even in this last month of winter. Those who think that nature is still in hibernation will be surprised.
Have you not yet managed to visit the Winter Castle? Then the spring vacation is your last chance. Experience how the former residents hibernated in the Muiderslot. In fairy tales it always looks beautiful: cozy around the warm fireplace and candles that complete the atmosphere. That reality was sometimes very different can be seen and heard during Winter Castle. Take a free audio tour and make a journey through the wintertime of the past. Afterwards you will surely be glad that spring is in sight!
