Suitable for different ages and levels

Taking your class to the Muiderslot means learning with head, heart and hands. Students imagine themselves in the age of chivalry, explore the historic gardens and discover how water played a leading role in defending and living around the castle for centuries.

The castle and gardens are full of stories. With a variety of methods, empathy assignments and the use of all the senses, students will explore together with a museum teacher. There is room for imagination, questioning and their own discoveries.

The programs for primary schools are consistent with core objectives and are suitable for different ages and levels. Together we look at which program best suits your class.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need additional chaperones if I come with my class?

Yes, each program indicates how many facilitators are needed.

Is there room to eat a sandwich with students?

No food or drinks can be consumed during the program. Afterwards, the class can have their own brought food/drink outside on the grounds. Unfortunately, we do not have indoor space for this purpose.

How many students can we come at once?

The Muiderslot has employed guided theme programs to enhance a students’ experience.

  • Themed programs with workshop in the castle workshop are suitable for 1 class per time slot.
  • The interactive tour can take place with max 60 students simultaneously per time slot (4 groups of max. 15 lln).
  • The large group programs are for groups of 45-90 students. Students are accompanied by their own supervisors.

What is the Muiderslot’s vision for education?

Our interactive educational programs connect with students’ experiences. They combine knowledge with experience and invite them to make connections between then, now and later. Students explore with all their senses and are given room to ask questions and discover for themselves.

The Plum Orchard

Stroll past the plum trees and experience the atmosphere that inspired castle resident P.C. Hooft to write stories.

The Knights’ Hall

The beating heart of the castle. A place where feasting, sleeping, justice and writing took place. The oldest stage in the Netherlands. Be inspired by the story of the Muider Circle.

The moat

Wet and cold. The moat kept enemies at bay and made it difficult to get close to the walls. Thus, the Muiderslot was well protected.
