Modern castle chef
Siebren Houwer is a historian, tour guide, and our very own castle chef. His passion for history and cuisine meet at Muiderslot castle. He gave some very flavorful cooking lessons in the castle gardens. He made beer bread the way it was eaten in the Middle Ages, for instance, and shared his recipe for historic herbal wine, including some fascinating historical facts. Lots of ingredients grow in our castle gardens, which you will also hear about in the garden audio tour.
