The Muiderslot is more than a castle. It is also the oldest stage in the Netherlands. Since poet and creative P.C. Hooft lived here in the 17th century, countless actors, musicians, poets and writers have visited the Muiderslot. In the Knights’ Hall of the castle, many performances took place. This stage tradition also keeps the Muiderslot alive today. We regularly open the gates for (new) creative talent in disciplines such as dance, spoken word, theatre, music or philosophy.
Live performances last Sunday of the month
Every last Sunday of the month you can come and enjoy contributions from (new) makers who will surprise the audience in the afternoon with music, dance, spoken word, theater and more.
All performances are free for visitors with a valid entrance ticket.
On the 25th of July 2021 there will be a special dance ritual of Analemma 5.0. Visitors are invited to think about their relationship with their ancestors. The vibrant dance ritual is about decolonisation, healing, trauma and connection. The dance is performed by queer people of colour. This programme ties in with the Pride Amsterdam. Did you know that we do organise Love and Lust tours as well?
All performances are powered by the Dutch Cultural Participation Fund.
