Ode to women

In anticipation of International Women’s Day on March 8, we are organizing a program called ‘Ode to Women’ on Sunday, March 6. Here Nisrine Mbarki and Samira Dainan pay tribute to women through recitation and singing.

Nisrine Mbarkic

Nisrine Mbarki is a versatile writer, poet, columnist, translator, and program maker for, among others, Winternachten, editor of the Poeziekrant, jury member of the ‘Grote Poezieprijs’ and the ‘Jan Campert Prize’. She writes poetry, theater texts, and short stories.

Nisrine will read from her recently published book ‘Oeverloos’. In this she allows opposites to come together: the grounded and the mystical, the city and nature, being eternally moving and eternally still. With compassion for all living things, she redraws the map of the world. And explores the boundaries of the different guises she herself embodies: mother, daughter, wife, and writer.

Samira Dainan

Samira Dainan is a writer and singer. She brings east and west together and sings in Arabic and Berber about being a woman.
