When Sinterklaas comes to the Netherlands, he sleeps in his castle: the Muiderslot. He invites all children to visit him during the last two weekends of November and the first weekend of December. The gates are open between 10:00 and 17:00 and there is plenty to do. The Castle of St. Nicholas will also be open from Tuesday to Friday between 10 and 17 hours. But without Sinterklaas, his helpers and his horse.
Activities
The presents must be wrapped. The poems are written and the songs practiced. It is a hive of activity at the castle just before Sinterklaas’ Eve. In between activities, Sinterklaas gives all children the opportunity to visit the Muiderslot. The Sinterklaas songs are on and meanwhile the the circus ‘pieten’ are on the castle square. Inside, children can take a look around in the parcel room and Sinterklaas’ bedroom, dance around in the ‘Pieten disco’ or do some tinkering. Of course everyone can also make beautiful drawings for Sint and help with writing poems.
